Lander University invites applications for Chair of its Department of Government, Criminology, and Sociology to begin in August 2018. 

The successful candidate is expected to hold Professor or Associate Professor rank in Political Science on appointment; therefore a terminal degree in Political Science and appropriate credentials for one of these ranks are required. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate classes given his or her areas of specialization, although ability to teach American politics and international relations courses is preferred. An ability to teach law-related classes is welcomed. The candidate will be expected to advise students, provide university service, and engage in research and professional activities.

The Department houses undergraduate majors in criminology, political science, and sociology and minors in areas such as homeland security, non-profit management, public administration, and pre-law.  The Department also offers an online master’s degree in Emergency Management.

Lander’s strategic plan aims to grow the areas of criminology, government (public) administration, homeland security, and emergency management.  The Department is part of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences along with the departments of History and Philosophy, Military Science, and Psychological Science.
