MHA Director, Health Services Policy and Management

 

The Department of Health Services Policy and Management, Arnold School of Public Health, University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track or non-tenure track position as Assistant or Associate Professor to direct the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program. The Department is a full Graduate Member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), and the Arnold School of Public Health is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The MHA degree is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). Our MHA students have a strong track record in acquiring nationally competitive scholarships and management fellowships. The Department also offers the Master of Public Health, PhD and Doctor of Public Health degrees in Health Services Policy and Management.

 

Responsibilities: The selected individual will serve as the MHA Director. The MHA director has primary responsibility for managing the MHA program, placement of students in graduate assistantships and residency locations, and providing active developmental leadership, consistent with the requirements of a CAHME-accredited program. The Director will teach undergraduate/master/doctoral level courses, advise students, mentor students in residency projects or research activities. Tenure track faculty members are expected to maintain an active research and scholarship agenda, including extramural funding for research.

 

Qualifications: Qualifications include an earned doctoral degree in health administration, health services research, health policy, or business administration.  Preference will be given to qualified candidates with academic program leadership or experience with a CAHME accredited MHA or allied program and to those with previous work experience in health care practice settings. Tenure-track applicants at the associate level should have a record of external funding and an appropriate teaching and publication record; applicants at the assistant level must have at least one year of post-doctoral research and/or teaching experience.

  

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

The University of South Carolina is located in Columbia, the state capital, approximately 100 miles from both the Atlantic coast and foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  The area offers a wide range of cultural and recreational resources including Lake Murray, Riverbanks Zoo, Koger Center for the Performing Arts, and EdVenture Children’s Museum.
