Duties and Responsibilities | Application Deadline: This is an open until filled search. First consideration will be given to applications received by August 10, 2017. Second consideration will be given to applications received by August 24, 2017. Applications received subsequent to second consideration date (August 24, 2017) may not be given full consideration. BASIC FUNCTION : Under minimal supervision or working independently, assist in performing routine and non-routine viral immunology research work or tests on materials or specimens. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Under minimal or no supervision, assist in performing non-routine research work or tests on material or specimens. Assist in the analysis of samples. Document research procedures and results in a timely and organized fashion. Handle and maintain technical instruments required for performance of experiments. Assist in the preparation of scientific publications and technical reports. Assist in the recruitment, training and supervision of research staff. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Perform other duties as required. LICENSES , TOOLS , AND EQUIPMENT : Personal computers, printers; word processing, database and spreadsheet software; biological safety cabinets. |
Required Qualifications | Required: 1. Bachelor's degree in a Biological Science required. 2. At least three years of professional experience as a laboratory technician. 3. Experience with cell culture and one or more of the following: Western blot, ELISpot, Flow cytometry, quantitative PCR . 4. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal skills. 5. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills. 6. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations. |
Preferred Qualifications | Preferred: 1. Experience in viral immunology research. 2. Experience in handling human blood or tissue specimens. 3. Experience in handling biosafety level 2 pathogens. 4. Environmental Conditions | This position involves handling of biosafety level 2 hazards and material in cryogenic storage (-80C freezers and liquid nitrogen). |
