The Psychotherapist provides culturally-competent counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, and referral services for university students. He/she also participates in psychoeducational activities that address students’ needs, and consults with faculty and staff regarding students’ concerns. The Psychotherapist must work exceptionally well with students of color, LGBTQ students, international students, and other under-represented students and communities on campus; and have a sophisticated understanding of how intersectionality, privilege, and socioeconomic status relate to the mental health of a global student community.

This is a 12-month, 0.83 FTE position.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Counseling credential/license
    • Psychologist (PhD/PsyD)
      Licensed, license eligible, or license eligible within 12 months of hire.
    • Social Worker (MSW):
      Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), licensed or license eligible.
      Currently credentialed Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) will be considered if they will be eligible for their LICSW within 12 months of hire.
    • Counselor (MA):
      Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC); licensed or license eligible.
  • Exceptional skills in working with diverse students, a diverse counseling staff, and demonstrated commitment to social justice.
  • Ability to work with a team; excellent communication skills with peers as well as clients.
  • Experience with and skills working within a short-term therapy model


Preferred:

  • Experience in a university counseling center (strongly preferred).
  • Bilingual or multilingual counseling skills.
  • Skills, knowledge, and experience specifically focused on the needs of students of color, LGBTQ students, international students, students from diverse religious affiliations (Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and others), undocumented students, or first generation college students on a university campus.
  • Specialty in eating disorders, alcohol and other drug assessment and treatment, or counseling with younger adolescents.
  • Expertise in brief therapy models (DBT, ACT, solution focused therapy, brief dynamic therapy, etc).
