Duties and Responsibilities | BASIC FUNCTION : Work independently to perform routine and non-routine research work for the URI Computer Science (CS) Department projects in: Computer-Based Science Investigations, STEM -C extension to the RITES Math/Science Partnership, and the Open Cyber Challenge Platform - all URI CS Department projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Perform non-routine research work to test research results, gather data, analyze data, and disseminate research results for the Computer-Based Science Investigations, the STEM -C extension to the RITES Math/Science Partnership, and the Open Cyber Challenge Platform project. These projects all involve interacting with primary and secondary schools systems (administrators, teachers, and students) in the region who are implementing the results of these projects. Organize testing groups of primary and secondary students and teachers to use research products and generate data for analysis. Work with project external evaluators to obtain their data on each project. Work independently to obtain data by administering surveys and collecting data from Internet sources. Work with project PI's to analyze data and develop research products. Disseminate research products by coordinating workshops and other meetings to deliver the products and collect stakeholder feedback. Provide input to grant proposals. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Participate in meetings for each of the three projects. Perform other duties as required. LICENSES , TOOLS , AND EQUIPMENT : Personal computers and printers. Word processing. Spreadsheets. Rhode Island Department of Education Certified in Learning Standards. |
Required Qualifications | REQUIRED : 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education, Communications or a related field and a minimum of five years' experience in educational research, or Master's degree in Computer Science, Education, or Communications. 2. Rhode Island Department of Education certification in learning standards to administer data collection. 3. Demonstrated organizational skills. 4. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. 5. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills. 6. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
