Administrative Assistant II, Interdisciplinary Programs

The Interdisciplinary programs office seeks a creative, flexible, and organized team player to work with the primary Administrative
Assistant to provide administrative support for the coordinators and faculty of eight interdisciplinary academic programs. The programs in
Asian Studies, Cognitive Science, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Interpretation Theory, Latin American and Latino Studies, Peace and
Conflict Studies, Black Studies, and Global Studies offer classes, majors and minors, information, and programming in subject areas
outside and across the traditional departments. The programs range in size and support needs. The part-time Administrative Assistant will share in the responsibility for organizing and publicizing public programs including lectures, special events, and receptions (design,
publicity, reservations, hospitality), guest travel reimbursement, processing honoraria requests) and for the programs' budgets
(transfers, accounting, reports). The candidate will also help maintain a shared calendar to best avoid scheduling conflicts between the
interdisciplinary programs and other departments. In addition, the candidate will assist with academic support, such as scheduling
classes, maintaining student records, updating the course catalog, and conducting reviews, as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in an administrative or office capacity
  • Experience with office software including Word, Excel, Google Suite, Photoshop
  • Experience with publicity including graphic design and social media campaigns
  • Budget experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred:
  • College degree
  • Experience with Banner, Moodle and other academic software
