Temple University’s School of Media and Communication invites applications for the Verizon Endowed Professorship and Chair. This one-to-two year position is designed for a prominent media practitioner. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, mentoring students, and planning and directing an annual symposium. This appointment offers the opportunity to share expertise and experience with students through the creation of multi-platform events and high-profile seminars that examine the most interesting and challenging issues in media, past, present and future, through the eyes of recognized experts.
The ideal candidate for this position should have an outstanding record of work in one or more of the following areas: broadcast journalism, or multimedia news, programming, media management, or media entrepreneurship.
The School of Media and Communication is among the largest and most comprehensive schools of communication in the nation. It enrolls nearly 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and has nearly 60 full-time faculty members. The school houses four departments: Advertising, Journalism, Media Studies and Production, and Strategic Communication. It also offers three programs that are shared across the school: a B.A. in Communication Studies, an M.S. in Global Communication and Development, and a Ph.D. in Media and Communication.
