Linguistics Assistant Professor in the Study of Language Variation

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track position in the study of language variation at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will begin on July 1, 2017. The successful candidate must have the Ph.D. completed by the start of the appointment.
Applicants should have an interest in the general study of language variation, including change and variation within and across languages and dialects, in particular in syntax and semantics as well as their
interfaces. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research agenda crucially builds on empirical approaches such as experimental methods, fieldwork, computational modeling, and
quantitative analysis of naturally occurring data.
Applicants should present a proven record of research and the potential for establishing a research program with extramural funding. The successful candidate must also provide evidence of excellence in teaching, and will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate instruction including introductory level courses.
