Lecturer in Russian Language

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Russian Language, beginning Fall 2016. This is a full-time, one-year position as Lecturer A, with the possibility of renewal for up to an additional two years, contingent upon departmental needs, a satisfactory performance review and approval of the Dean. Teaching load is six courses per year and includes both heritage and non-heritage language courses. The successful candidate will play an active role in curriculum development, student advising, assessment activities, and extra-curriculum programs.
The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Russian Language and/or Literature/Culture (ABDs will be considered). We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative instructor who has demonstrated excellence in teaching various levels of Russian language and has experience and expertise working with heritage students.
Complete fluency in Russian and English is required; as is familiarity with contemporary instructional technologies and best practices and current techniques for teaching heritage students.
