Clinical Faculty Position in Small Animal Intensive Care Medicine

The University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Clinical Studies-Philadelphia, section of Critical Care invites qualified individuals to apply for a faculty position in the Academic Clinician (AC) track in Small Animal Intensive Care Medicine at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. This position will focus on clinical patient care, and clinical and didactic teaching of residents, interns, and veterinary students, supervision of veterinary nurses, and leadership roles within the hospital. Potential for collaborative research abounds, but advancement within this faculty track does not include a research requirement.
The successful candidate will enjoy a wealth of opportunities to provide clinical service in a cutting-edge academic Intensive Care Unit, while practicing in a large urban university veterinary hospital with specialists in all areas. This position requires weekday, weekend, evening, holiday and occasional night work; experience in managing a busy Intensive Care Unit is desirable. Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care is required.
The Section of Critical Care employs eight ACVECC boarded faculty, three of whom are double-boarded Diplomates, and three of whom work exclusively in the Intensive Care Unit. There are currently 9 residents enrolled in the ACVECC residency training program. More than 30 Diplomates of American specialty colleges support the Section of Critical Care. The School is located amid a vibrant urban neighborhood that offers an abundance of cultural resources including music, art, theatres, and fine dining. The School is well situated within 2 hours of both New York and Washington DC by train.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Full University benefits including health, dental, vision, and retirement accompany the position. A signed non-competition agreement is required for all faculty hires at Penn Vet.
