TRiO Project Director

Responsibilities

The Project Director of TRiO will direct and coordinate all aspects of TRiO Student Support Services (SSS). The Project Director is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and assessment of all direct student services, as well as all administrative aspects related to project management. The Director functions in concert with all administrative, academic, and student support areas within the university. The Director of TRiO, as a representative of the Department of Academic & Human Development,  will liaison with other university units and committees  to help foster an institutional climate conducive to the success of low-income, first generation, underrepresented, or academically disadvantaged students. The Director will administer the program budget to effectively address participant’s needs while remaining within the regulatory federal compliance. The Director will manage the program staff to ensure effective utilization of program resources; oversee program documentation and performance reporting by implementing a plan for effective record keeping and archiving of confidential student information. The Director will Communicate with the U.S. Department of Education on behalf of the program through the completion of the Annual Performance Report (APR). The Director will attend the Department of Education approved staff development workshops. The Director will assist in the selection of program participants as specified by federal guidelines. The Director will assume a caseload of TriO students and in that role, assist in developing individual student academic success plans. The Director may team or individually teach a first-year seminar or similar course to first-year students. The Director is required to input data into Blumen and maintain forms and other pertinent information to electronic files. The successful applicant is expected to make professional and university service contributions and advance the TRiO Student Support Services Program at Mansfield University.

 

Qualifications

Minimum requirements: Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Personnel Services, or a closely related field and five years of higher education experience involving professional development training, demonstrated knowledge of developmental education, and understanding of the various “risk” factors associated with TRiO students. Additional qualifications: Demonstration of excellent supervisory skills; excellent administrative and organizational skills; excellent data gathering, management, analysis and reporting skills; excellent communication skills; ability to adapt to changing technologies that support teaching and learning; and completion of a successful campus interview. Demonstrate a commitment to Mansfield University’s stated principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service (http://www1.mansfield.edu/mansfield-creed/) and be effective in supporting the university’s vision and mission.  Preferred: A doctorate in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Personnel Services, or a closely related field; direct experience working with TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) or another TRiO program; and demonstrated grant writing experience. Other conditions of employment are verification of all earned degrees through the receipt of original transcripts, an acceptable background check report, authorization to be employed in the United States or the ability to obtain prior to commencement of employment, and positive references.

 

Essential Functions

Provide effective leadership for the TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) Program. Oversee the effective delivery of TRiO services.  Continued scholarly growth and service to the department, university and community. Effective communication (verbal and written) and use of electronic teaching technology.  Work cooperatively with staff, faculty and administration. Travel, including driving, is required. Some evening and weekend travel will be required.  May be required to lift, stand, walk, reach with arms, etc.

 

Status

Temporary, full-time position beginning with the 2015 Spring Semester.  The position is grant funded by the Federal TRiO Student Support Services Program.  This position will be funded on an annual basis contingent upon grant funding and performance.
