Biology - Fisheries

Responsibilities Direct a nationally-renowned undergraduate fisheries educational program. Teach a wide array of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Biology courses including: Fish Culture, Fish Management, Biostatistics, Limnology, Ichthyology, Fish Pathology, two field courses every other summer and, as needed, a General Education course. The successful applicant will advise a diverse student population, direct undergraduate research, and make departmental, university, and community contributions including involvement with student recruitment. Excellence in teaching, continuing scholarly growth, and service to the university are required for tenure and promotion. Qualifications Minimum requirements: Doctorate degree in aquaculture or fisheries field from a regionally accredited (or foreign equivalent) institution and completion of a successful interview which includes a teaching and a research presentation. Additional qualifications: Experience operating both stream and lake electrofishing equipment and experiencing operating boats; evidence of ability to teach the required courses; evidence of relevant scholarly activity; ability to adapt to changing technologies that support teaching and learning; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); demonstrated ability to teach, evaluate, and advise students; experience with assessing program and student learning outcomes; student recruitment experience; and the ability to conduct scholarly activities. Demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Mansfield University s principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service (http://www1.mansfield.edu/mansfield-creed) and the University s strong student-centered vision and mission. Preferred: Experience teaching multiple required courses offered for our Fisheries Concentration; experience or ability to advise students pursuing Fisheries careers; and ability to develop connections with Fisheries professionals and programs and place students in internships. Ability to use software application programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and effective use of phone, keyboard and other office equipment. May be required to lift, stand, walk, reach with arms, etc. Salary Full-time, tenure track, position with an anticipated start date of August 2015. Assistant Professor rank.
