Job Description Summary
Lock Haven University invites applications for a full-time, temporary faculty position in its fully accredited masters level Physician Assistant Program at the Harrisburg, PA Campus to begin on or about July 28, 2018 and ending May 24, 2019.
This position is for 1.0 FTE depending on funding and student enrollment. Workload may change due to student demand.
Terms and conditions of employment are contained in the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties ( APSCUF ) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Essential Duties
This position may require development and teaching of courses online.
Specific Duties
- Faculty will be assigned to the Harrisburg Campus with teaching responsibilities at other teaching locations as assigned.
- Teach lectures within a team based modular format.
- Supervise and visit second year PA students.
- Actively recruit new clinical sites/preceptors and maintain existing clinical partnerships and training sites.
- Coordinate clinical placements of second year PA students at all campus locations.
- Evaluate clinical site ability to provide patient experiences that lead to the development of program student learning outcomes and competencies.
- Facilitate small group instruction within a module based curriculum.
- Proctor first and second year examinations and evaluate student performance on OSCE examinations.
- Participate in the education of PA students during PA Day activities including delivery of instruction and student assessment.
- Attend department faculty meetings.
- Meet with student advisees during "PA day" activities.
Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Masters degree or higher as a physician assistant or in a health related discipline.
- Must have a current NCCPA certification (or board eligibility in a related field) as well as eligibility to practice within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Must have a valid PA drivers license and reliable transportation.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years experience in PA clinical practice
- Experience with developing learning outcomes, defining competencies, and coordinating PA student clinical experiences

Background Clearances
In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations ( FBI ) Criminal Background Checks.
Appointment is provisional for a single 90 day period provided the "Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form" and verification of your application for the three background checks are returned to Deana Hill, Associate VP for Human Resources.

Annual Security Report (Clery Act)
The Lock Haven University's Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report are now available on-line or in paper form by request. Federal law requires these reports to contain policy statements, crime and fire safety statistics for the university. The policy statements address the university's policies, procedures, and programs concerning safety and security, i.e. policies for responding to emergency situations, fire safety procedures and statistics, and sexual offenses, etc. Three years' worth of statistics is included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in on-campus buildings, or off-campus sites property owned or controlled by the university and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to the campus.
