Associate Dean, College of Business

The College of Business (COB) at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania (KUP) seeks candidates for the position of Associate Dean. This individual will report directly to the COB Dean. This is a full-time management position; this position does not carry faculty or tenure status. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The COB is comprised of two academic departments: Business Administration and Sport Management and Leadership Studies (https://www.kutztown.edu/business). The two academic departments include 40 faculty and a college of 1600 students. Business Administration, accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), offers a B.S.B.A. program with tracks in marketing, management, finance, accounting, and financial planning, and minors in economics, advertising, and supply chain and logistics, as well as a 30-credit general MBA. Sport Management and Leadership Studies, which is accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), offers a B.S. in Sport Management and a minor in Coaching Administration. The College also houses an Entrepreneurial Leadership Center and offers an interdisciplinary minor in entrepreneurship.

Additionally, Kutztown University’s award-winning Small Business Development Center, an accredited affiliate of the national network of Small Business Development Centers, is housed within the COB, offering students an opportunity to interact with business leaders within the region.

The Associate Dean, in collaboration with department chairs, faculty, and staff, coordinates or manages activities involving services for students in the College’s degree programs, the review or revision of the College’s curricula, the design and execution of assessment processes, and the maintenance of data bases for planning and decision-making in the College. In the next few years, the COB will also explore and implement new curricular programs using different delivery formats.

The Associate Dean’s major responsibilities include:

  • Advance student success, retention and graduation initiatives
  • Lead, facilitate, and manage accreditation processes and assessment
  • Oversee all aspects of the MBA program, including close cooperation with Graduate Admissions
  • Provide thought leadership for new program offerings and delivery formats

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in a field closely related to program offerings in the COB
  • Business administrative experience in higher education
  • Experience working with students to achieve success
  • Higher education teaching experience
  • Experience with, and commitment to, assessment and accreditation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Record of peer-reviewed scholarly activity
  • Shared governance experience
  • Experience with discipline-specific accreditation
  • Experience in a collective bargaining environment
  • Experience with diverse populations
