PHYSICS (ASTRONOMY) TENURE TRACK

PHYSICS

The Department of Physics at Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track position in astronomy at the Assistant Professor level, to begin August 2013.  We seek an individual who has a genuine interest in teaching, advising, and liberal arts education;and who will conduct an active research program involving our undergraduate students.  Candidates should have a doctorate in astronomy, physics, or a closely allied field; all sub-fields of astronomy/astrophysics will be considered.   Postdoctoral research experience and college-level teaching experience are preferred.  Responsibilities will include teaching courses in astronomy and across the physics curriculum with opportunities to teach in the broader College curriculum through interdisciplinary courses and our First-Year Seminar program.  Gettysburg College is a member of the National Undergraduate Research Observatory consortium and also houses an on-campus observatory.  Candidates who can engage our students utilizing these facilities will be given preference.
