Minimum QualificationsTo be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).The qualified candidate will meet ALL of the minimum requirements for EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and RELATED INSTRUCTION as shown below:EDUCATION
  • Associates Degree or higher from an accredited institution or the successful completion of an accredited Certificate with the commitment to complete an Associates Degree prior to the end of probation, and
  • Possession of all 8 ASEs, or a minimum of 6 ASEs with the commitment to complete the remaining certificates by the end of probation. Must obtain Maintenance and Light Repair (G1). Advanced Engine Performance (L1) must be obtained if teaching Auto Shop Lab or Engine Performance Courses.
EXPERIENCEAny combination of five years full time (or equivalent part time) teaching and paid work in an automotive repair facility, and have:
  • Experience living/working in multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.
  • Current and Valid Drivers License with clean driving record with the ability to complete PCC drivers training.
  • Ability to operate typical automotive machinery and complete training for new equipment as necessary.
RELATED INSTRUCTION:All Automotive Service Technology (AST) courses include related instruction in Computation, Communications and Human Relations.In order to adequately teach these courses, the following qualifications must be met:
  • Completion of Math 58 or Math 65 or demonstrated math competency related to automotive service (for Computation).
  • Writing 121 or Writing 227 or demonstrated writing competency related to automotive service (for Communication).
  • Documented 2 years of supervisory work experience or having served in a customer service/support/management or mentor role (for Human Relations).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing curriculum (the development of training/technical materials may substitute).
  • Recent experience in a working automotive shop.
  • Advanced level ASE certifications (A9, L2, L3) or Manufacturer specific certifications.
Salary:
Initial Salary Placement up to Step 3 ($56,274) will be based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.

- 4 paid holidays (which occur during the term you are teaching)
