Under the direction of the College President, the director develops district-wide policy on Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity; directs, coordinates, plans and oversees all of the functions and activities of the Office of Equity and Inclusion. The Director provides assistance and support to the College in designing goals, change strategies, data collection standards and accountability reporting. Provides expert technical guidance and leadership to College management on equity issues and strategies for promoting a diverse workforce. Requirements include: Master's degree in speech communication, post-secondary education, sociology, social anthropology, public administration, human resource management or other related field. Experience performing the duties of the position may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Five years of experience working in an affirmative action and EEO compliance function which involved training experience in cultural/gender differences, sexual harassment, conflict resolution and team-building is required. Management and supervisory experience is desired. Must have thorough knowledge of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the 1991 Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the legal and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's interpretation of such laws; extensive knowledge of training methods and conflict resolution and mediation methods.
