Portland Community College Counseling Services (Cascade Campus) is recruiting a full time faculty Counselor to provide mental health counseling to students enrolled in an urban campus environment in the vibrant North Portland community. PCC is committed to social justice and equitable student success, and actively seeks a diverse workforce to reflect the diversity of our student body. We expect a commitment to cultural responsiveness and inclusion coupled with an interest in seeking innovative ways to promote student mental health in the largest postsecondary educational institution in Oregon. We welcome counselors skilled in consultation, brief therapy, group therapy, and in providing innovative and inclusive outreach programming.PCC Counselors work as part of a district-wide team spanning a multi-campus district. Must be able to work equally well independently and cooperatively as a member of the counseling team and with campus partners. Faculty Counselors work 180 days per year under the full time faculty agreement with full benefits, and days are scheduled over a four-term calendar. The majority of time is spent providing direct mental health service to students from diverse backgrounds to support personal, academic, social and vocational success.

  • Qualifications necessary to provide individual and/or group mental health and career counseling to assist students to achieve their educational, personal, social and vocational goals.
  • Evidence of exceptional skills in working with diverse students and staff, and demonstrated commitment to social justice.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to developing, presenting and facilitating innovative and creative seminars and workshops to support student success and mental health promotion.
  • Experience facilitating community-based referrals and engagement in case management toin support of student transition to higher level care when relevant.
  • Demonstrated skills, training, and experience specifically focused on supporting the needs of students of color, students from indigenous communities, LGBTQIA students, international students, students from diverse religious affiliations (Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and others), undocumented students, students with disabilities, first generation college students, and/or military veterans and/or family of veterans on a college campus.



Minimum QualificationsTo be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).Education: Minimum Master's degree (or higher) in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Counseling & Guidance, or related area required. Degree must be from an accredited institution.Experience:
Minimum two years of full time orequivalent post-degree experience providing personal mentalhealth counseling (internship experience may be counted).Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong preference will be given tocandidates with a current license to provide mental health services in Oregon (LCSW/CSWA; LPC/LMFT; Psychologist)
  • College counselingexperience.
  • Knowledge of andcompliance with legal and ethical standards of mental health professionals.
  • Evidence of ability towork with a team; excellent communication skills with peers as well as clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in utilizing brief counseling approaches.
  • Skills in suicide assessment and disposition, assessment of risk to others, andability to facilitate higher level care (e.g. hospitalization) when indicated.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills necessary to provide same-day and urgentcrisis counseling and intervention.
  • Experience and interest in providing mental health consultation to faculty andstaff to support student success and well-being.
  • Evidence of commitment to serving institutions/organizations throughparticipation in committees, projects, and support of collaborativeinitiatives.
Salary:
Initial Salary Placement will generally not exceed Step 3 of the Full-Time Faculty Salary Range ($56,274). Higher placement may be considered based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
