Student Support Services Program Specialist

This Student Support Services Program Specialist serves as the central reception and information point for Student Support Services (SSS)/ TRiO. The Program Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations and procedures of the project, especially the record-keeping component. The Program Specialist provides student services including giving computerized assessments to new students, planning and arranging cultural activities, and advising students. This individual is also responsible for creating and submitting budgetary and other reports to the Director.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in office management, business, psychology, sociology, education, or related field is required. Other required qualifications include at least one year of experience in office support/administration, commitment to SSS goals and objectives, and EOU’s mission.

One year’s administrative expertise in areas of student file management, use of Microsoft Office Suite, and learning management software programs (i.e., Canvas or Jenzabar). Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by planning, prioritization, detail orientation, and time management techniques is required. The ability to communicate (both orally and written) with a wide range of people; a commitment to SSS goals and objectives; a commitment to EOU’s mission; an expectation to learn FERPA regulations, university policies, and ability to gain familiarity with Banner (student information management system). 
Two (2) years’ experience working with multicultural, first-generation, and/or disabled students. A demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with students from diverse social, economic, ethnic, academic, and cultural backgrounds.

A minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. One (1) year of experience in an education setting
  2. A background similar to that of SSS/TRiO participants
  3. One (1) year of experience creating budget and inventory reports
