Academic Advisor

The College of Science is accepting applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term, Academic Advisor (professional faculty) position with reporting responsibilities to the Head Advisor in the Dean’s Office. Reappointments are at the discretion of the Dean.

The College is looking for individuals with a demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity; experience working with academically at-risk students in an advising capacity; and experience working with students that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. This position provides direct academic advising to students in the College of Science, including monitoring students’ progress throughout the program and maintaining appropriate program records and resource materials.

The advisor will collaborate across campus to assist in the creation and facilitation/delivery of programs and interventions to improve the academic success of all science students, and facilitate the coordination of processes related to programs and interventions.

This advisor will oversee College recruitment efforts for underrepresented students in the science disciplines and develop programs and interventions to support students entering the College from nontraditional pathways.
