Assistant Professor in Early Childhood Education

The Ohio State University at Newark announces a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education and Human Ecology, to begin autumn semester, 2019. Tenure-track faculty in early childhood education at Ohio State Newark teach in a multi-disciplinary small-college environment and are members of Ohio State's Department of Teaching and Learning.

Summary of Duties:

Research duties include engaging in scholarship, research, and publication in accordance with the expectations of the Department of Teaching and Learning.  Teaching duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; providing leadership in the department in early childhood development and pedagogy; supporting students for successful completion of state-required, early-childhood licensure exams; and supporting students enrolled in the middle childhood (grades 4-9) program. Service expectations include contributions to the campus, department, college, university, surrounding communities, and one’s discipline.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in education or a related field, and have three years of successful elementary or middle school teaching experience (or the equivalent), and have expertise in early childhood education (pre-K through grade 3). We seek candidates who have a strong commitment to and/or evidence of excellence and accomplishment in both teaching and research. The successful candidate must also be committed to working with diverse groups or diverse students, and to fostering the diversity of the campus, curriculum, or discipline.
