Assistant Professor of Psychology - Developmental

The Department of Psychology at Denison University invites applications for a tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology at the time of appointment (August, 2016). The successful candidate will be expected to teach content and research courses at the undergraduate level in Development (Infancy/Childhood, Adolescence, and/or Adult), as well as Introductory Psychology, Research Methods (design and statistics), and junior-senior level courses in an area of expertise. The typical teaching load is 5 courses per year. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in Cognitive Development and/or Language Development; full consideration will be given to strong candidates in other areas of development. Research facilities include a lab suite for use with any age population. We seek applications that reveal candidates with A) a commitment to excellence, and/or evidence of success​​, in teaching B) a clear motivation to mentor undergraduates in a liberal arts setting C) the potential to​ develop a productive Developmental Psychology research program that involves undergraduates, and D) a commitment to contribute actively to the growth of the Department and College.

The Psychology Department currently has 12 full time faculty members who represent a wide range of specialty areas. Our Departmental facilities include recently renovated research areas, computer labs used for instruction and research, and smart classrooms equipped for multi-media instruction. There are college and departmental programs for mentoring and enhancing teaching. The college also offers generous support for faculty and student research, including a junior faculty leave following a successful third year review. Denison University has no graduate programs.
