- Job Description
- Under supervision of camp administrators, camp counselors supervise and maintain the safety of campers who range from 1st through 8th grade.
- Job Characteristic Duties
- Along with other counselors, supervise a group of 20-30 children ranging from grades 1-8.
- Monitor and maintain overall safety and wellbeing of designated children and fellow staff members.
- Assist in the development, setup, and implementation of camp activities.
- Distribute daily lunches, snacks, and drinks as needed throughout the course of the day.
- Adhere to and enforce discipline guidelines and policies towards children.
- Complete all necessary paperwork.
- Effectively communicate to fellow staff members, administrators, camp parents, and guardians in a positive manner regarding R.E.C. Kids Camp.
- Conduct and/or assist with daily cleaning operations.
- Administer first aid and emergency care according to certifications acquired during training.
- Abide by all camp policies, procedures, and guidelines as communicated from training week.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Job Unusual Working Conditions
- Occasional work outside and possible exposure to weather, heat, or humidity.
- Job Minimum Qualifications
- Must be age 16 or older.
- Must be enrolled at least part-time (six credit hours for undergraduate students and five credit hours for graduate students), with the exception of summer semester, or will be a registered student during the next academic semester for summer work.
- Must pass a state background check, a national background check, a sex offender registry check, and three reference checks.
- Position Ideal Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have at least one year experience working with school-aged children. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational and work ethic, and leadership skills desired.
- Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing 25lbs. or under.
- Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs when taking part in physical activities (sports and games)
- Continuous walking, standing, and moving
- Frequently communicate, verbal and written
- Frequently direct others.
