Research Associate - College of Medicine

The College of Medicine, Department of Radiology is looking for a Research Associate for their Imaging Research Lab. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume a major role in a variety of image analysis and processing of neuroimaging research projects within the College of Medicine.
  • Assist with activities of UC Radiology central imaging core labs for multicenter clinical trials and population studies.
  • Provide support for collaborative imaging research projects within the College of Medicine, particularly for advanced neuroimaging analysis.
  • Collaborate with the Radiology faculty in the development of imaging research projects.
  • Assist in the training of graduate students, medical students, residents and fellows involved in imaging research projects, as pertaining to the image analysis/post processing component.
  • Work closely with Vice chair of Research to build and grow the Imaging Research Lab in Department of Radiology.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a profession/field or equivalent level of knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications : A Master's Degree or higher in computer science, biomedical engineering, Computer and Information Science, neuroscience, or related fields. The ideal candidate will have strong computing skills to work carefully with large datasets, including proficiency in computational and statistical methods for neuroimaging (e.g., diffusion imaging, functional MRI, MATLAB, SPM, AFNI, FSL, IDL). Previous experience in neuroimaging analysis, statistical signal processing, creating automated processing pipelines, machine learning and network analysis is highly preferred. The candidate should also have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills and experience in publishing academic articles and grant writing. An innovative approach to experimental design, the ability to synthesize information and the ability to work with teams that involve multidisciplinary experiences with MDs and PhDs is preferred.
