Research Assistant Professor - Environmental Health

The College of Medicine, Department of Environmental Health is seeking a highly qualified researcher for a Tenure-Track or Research Track position (open rank). This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in research. We invite applications from candidates with postdoctoral experience and a publication/funding record in investigating the role of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor in the effects of environmental exposure to dioxins and other environmental agents. Incumbent will analyze the role of the receptor in the establishment and maintenance of pluripotency, with a main focus of research on the characterization of chromatin structure resulting from receptor function. Incumbent will also provide experimental support to bioinformatics experiments involving the study of gene expression in mice and in mouse embryonic stem cells exposed to toxic halogenated polycyclic hydrocarbon compounds. The incumbent will analyze large systems biology datasets for significance to the function of the receptor in environmental injury and will report results in scientific publications and grant applications at the national level.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have a PhD, MD or comparable degree and 3+ years of postdoctoral experience in the area of environmental exposure. A candidate at the Assistant Professor level is expected to establish extramurally funded independent research program and a candidate at the Associate Professor or Professor levels should have a track record of such program and sustain the funding.
