Program Manager -Financial Aid Office

Program Manager Student Financial Aid Office -Grants and Reconciliation

Summary of Position: This position is responsible for awarding, monitoring and/or reconciling various federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships. Develops and coordinates quality assurance programs for the Student Financial Aid Office related to grant and scholarship programs. Reports to Assistant Director-Federal & State Programs.

Description of Duties

Grant Management - Monitors Federal Pell Grant awards to ensure accuracy. Works with Department of Education (ED) and other colleges and universities to resolve Pell Grant overpayments. Assists with the management of TEACH Grant awards. Monitors Ohio College Opportunity Grant awards to ensure accuracy and recipient eligibility. Processes Federal Pell Grant and Ohio College Opportunity Grant edit reports. Awards and monitors grant programs in states including but not limited to Pennsylvania, Indiana, and DC. Serves as liaison to state agencies originating awards. Processes aid adjustments when appropriate, updates student computer file and corresponds with federal or state agency regarding resolution.

Federal , S tate and Institutional Fund Reconciliation - Performs weekly Pell reconciliation to ensure compliance with federal reporting guidelines. Performs monthly reconciliation for other grant and scholarship programs. Provides regular and ad hoc reports related to fund balances and expenditures. Resolves discrepancies and amends or adjusts awards and roster submissions. Collaborates with Finance Division to ensure receipt and proper accounting of funds. Works with Finance division on return of funds to sponsoring agency in cases of overpayment.

State Scholarship and Loan Management - Awards and monitors state scholarship programs including but not limited to GEAR Up, Ohio War Orphans Scholarship, Nurse Education Assistance Loan and Choose Ohio First Scholarship programs. Submits rosters by term deadlines and requests payment from Ohio Board of Regents. Communicates with Ohio Board of Regents regarding student eligibility and payment process.

Direct Loan Reconciliation - Provides reconciliation support for the Federal Direct Loan program. Works to insure funds are awarded, disbursed and applied to students' aid and account files. Guarantees that the Direct Loan program is reconciled on a weekly basis. Works with Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) on monthly and year end reports. Researches and problem solves issues related to Direct lending.

Quality Assurance - Develops and implements measures for ensuring accuracy or student awards for grant and scholarship programs. Assists Assistant Director- Federal and State Programs with SFAO portion of annual Ohio Board of Regents Audit.

Other Duties - Participates in on-going professional development activities. Other duties as assigned including participation in SFAO, Enrollment Management (EM), and Student Affairs and Services (SAS) activities.

Minimum Qualifications -

Bachelors' degree with three (3) years experience; - OR- Associate's degree with five (5) years experience; -OR-

seven (7) years experience. Experience must be in program development or business administration. Experience may require at least one (1)

year of supervision.

This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
