The University of Cincinnati Department of Clinical and Health Information Sciences is searching for a full-time faculty member to serve as Program Director for the BS in Respiratory Therapy Program. The Program Director will lead the program while contributing to the department's teaching, research, and service missions. The ideal applicant will be an experienced educator with an established record of leadership, scholarly activity and professional service. This is a 12-month per year position with rank and faculty track commensurate with education and experience.

Position Responsibilities : The Program Director, assistant/associate professor is primarily responsible for teaching and service in the degree advancement Respiratory Therapy programs. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to: course development, primary instruction of didactic courses using online delivery modalities. Program Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to marketing, student recruitment, retention, and admissions activities; curriculum design; program evaluation, accreditation tasks, and other activities as assigned by the Department Head. While online student instruction is central to this position, scholarship and service activity is also required consistent with the missions and faculty evaluative criteria of the University, College, and Department.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master of Science degree with all but dissertation progress towards a Doctoral degree in Respiratory Care or related field
    • Candidates who are in the dissertation phase of their doctoral program are welcome to apply however the Doctorate must be completed prior to the start date
  • Licensed or eligible for Respiratory Care Professional license from the State Medical Board of Ohio
  • Valid RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Minimum of 4-years teaching experience at the college level or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4-years clinical experience in respiratory care
  • Evidence of scholarly activity
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and online learning management systems
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team


Preferred Qualifications :
  • Prior administrative and accreditation experience in a CoARC accredited respiratory care program
  • Prior online teaching experience in a degree advancement program
  • Valid specialty credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care (e.g., Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist, Adult Critical Care Specialist, Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist, or Sleep Disorder Specialist)
  • Prior scholarly works published or presented; prior grant funding
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels
