Program Coordinator - Ethnic Programs & Services

Are you interested in working with a diverse student population at an urban serving institution? Do you have the drive to serve at a student - centered office, and the passion to lead diversity and inclusion efforts for students across campus? The Division of Student Affairs is seeking motivated applicants for the Program Coordinator in the Office of Ethnic Programs and Services.

The Program Coordinator in the Office of Ethnic Programs & Services will provide programs, services and assessment strategies in the areas of multicultural education, leadership development and community engagement. The person needs to be knowledgeable of the histories, cultural developmental and student development of Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, Native American/Indigenous, and multi-racial/multi-ethnic communities. The Program Coordinator will also implement department programs and other initiatives to better serve a diverse and inclusive campus. In addition, they will advise student organizations as well as design and implement various trainings. The Program Coordinator will assist in related efforts regarding the Darwin T. Turner Scholars Program, and collaborate with Student Affairs units, academic departments, and other university units as well as community and alumni organizations when appropriate.

Characteristic Duties:
  • Plan, develop, and manage programs, facilitate panel discussion groups, and/or coordinate co-sponsored programming with student organizations, academic departments and other campus units surrounding social and cultural issues.
  • Coordinate large-scale campus programing hosted by the Office of Ethnic Programs and Services (i.e., WorldFest Week).
  • Lead the cultural heritage month celebrations, signature programs, marketing and develop strategies to create greater visibility, and identity development.
  • Help to oversee the BEARchats program, and the BEARChats Leadership Team
  • Assist with planning and programming for diversity initiatives, (i.e., Ohio Latino Student Summit, Rafael Rennella Scholarship Banquet, and other related programs).
  • Manage Welcome Week activities and programs for the office (i.e., Latino Student Welcome, Welcome Weekend, etc...)
  • Maintains the department's website, EPS Newsletter, and social media.
  • Help to support the leadership and identity development of the Darwin T. Turner Scholars Program when needed
  • Serve as the liaison for the department and work cooperatively and effectively with university departments, faculty, staff, and students to improve student success.
  • Identify and use assessment tools to generate data to evaluate the effectiveness of student programs and services through regular qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Research and analyze relevant literature, and other benchmark information in order to develop grant proposals, new program ideas and propose program changes.
  • Prepare budget requests and use financial resources wisely to achieve departmental goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with Student Affairs units, academic departments, and other university offices as well as community and alumni organizations that support the mission of EPS.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student assistants when applicable.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.


Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- Associate's degree with three (3) years experience; -OR- five (5) years experience. Experience must be in program coordination.

Preferred Qualifications : Experience with diversity/multicultural/international programming; creating and engaging in collaboration with individuals, groups, offices, and/or community members in programs and projects; advocating for identities that you do not hold; experience with social media and assessment; skills in seeking sponsorships and/or managing budgets.

This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
