The School of Planning in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati is seeking candidates for a Visiting Professor in Urban Futures (Landscape Architecture focus) position. The Urban Futures Initiative of the University of Cincinnati supports the integration of visionary and interdisciplinary urban studies into course curricula. The Visiting Professor's teaching and scholarship will contribute to the School's initiatives and programs such as the Urban Futures Initiative, Vacant Lots: Occupied Project, and the MLA program's Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES)-based curriculum and scholarship.

The College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati is a world-renowned college and home to a number of highly ranked programs.

The successful candidate will be involved in the School of Planning's collaborative environment for teaching and scholarship with primary (but not limited to) responsibility for teaching studios and seminars in the new Master of Landscape Architecture Program, such as: MLA Capstone Seminar, Visualization II, and Sustainable Landscape Design; Urban Planning studio; Sustainable Sites Studio and Seminar. The ideal candidate will have teaching interests that will contribute interdisciplinary approaches for the planning and design of environmentally and socially sustainable communities of the future.

The School of Planning is interested in candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with diverse populations, and those who have demonstrated the ability to teach and inspire students. We seek candidates who can work effectively and collegially in an interdisciplinary university setting with diverse faculty interests.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or a field related to specific course content or topics related to School of Planning initiatives. Candidates with PhD are encouraged to apply.

Ideal Qualifications: Prior teaching experience preferred. Documented scholarship and teaching or practical work experience in field related to specific course content or topics related to School of Planning initiatives.

Terms of Appointment: Full-time Faculty for three-semester as a Visiting Professor. Position is for one year and potentially renewable for another. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment start date is August 15, 2019.

The School of Planning within the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning prepares professionals for distinguished practice and spatially-based approaches with a focus on livable places, and the creation of communities that enrich people's lives. The six academic programs within the School of Planning (Bachelor in Urban Planning, Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies, Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, Master of Community Planning, Master of Landscape Architecture and PhD in Regional Development Planning) offer specific coursework about the planning and design of innovative futures for urban communities and regions. The School of Planning's graduate planning program is ranked 3rd in the Midwest and 16thin North America by Planetizen.

The Master of Landscape Architecture program in the School of Planning began in the summer of 2017. The School of Planning offers the MLA I First Professional Degree with intentions for LAAB accreditation, as well as two options for Post Professional degrees with thesis and/or thesis/project topics in The Business of Design/The Design of Business or in collaboration with allied fields within the College, including Architecture, Fine Art, and Industrial Design.
