Post Doc Fellow- Neurosurgery Department- College of Medicine

Postdoctoral Position

Division of Neurotrauma, Department of Neurosurgery

A postdoctoral position is available in the Neurotrauma Laboratory of Drs. Laura Ngwenya and Jennifer McGuire. Duties will include the experimental design, execution, and analysis of research projects focused on traumatic brain injury. Previous experience working with animal models of brain injury is preferred.

The Neurotrauma Laboratory focuses on the mechanisms that underlie poor recovery after TBI. Using experimental models of TBI, we examine acute, subacute, and chronic deficits. We investigate underlying mechanisms and potential treatments with a focus on adult neurogenesis, cell signaling, and genomics. We employ behavioral testing, histology and immunohistochemistry, stereological quantification, and molecular techniques. We also utilize novel approaches to hypothesis and drug discovery, including kinomics, metabolomics, and RNA-Seq technology.

Position Qualifications: Interested applicants must have a PhD degree in neuroscience, molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related field with research experience in cellular biology. Applicants should have prior experience working with rodents.

The preferred applicant will also have experience in small animal surgery, electrophysiology, or large data set analyses.
