POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW - Surgery

Job Summary: Applicants should be interested in inflammation/immunity in the context of sepsis, burn injury, and aging in the laboratory of Vanessa Nomellini, MD, PhD and Charles Caldwell, PhD in in the Department of Surgery and will need the following skills:

Research principles and advancement including ability to establish hypotheses and apply research principles, concepts, methods, and techniques in the research field to generate and interpret results that can be used in grant proposals and publications. Independently perform background or preliminary research to develop scientific hypotheses and methods to test them; evaluate results and present data at research meetings and/or for grant proposals.

Basic analytics should include experience with Western blot analysis, flow cytometry, ELISA, EliSpot, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, PCR assays, histological imaging and analysis.

Animal skills to include rodent handling, basic blood draws and euthanasia, advanced surgical techniques for arterial and venous access. Removal of organs, tissue, and blood post mortem from rodents.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD, MD, or MD/PhD.
