Manager Special Projects and Programs - UC Cancer Institute

Reporting to the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute (UCCI) Executive Administrative Director (EAD), this position drives and supports the Oncology Programs' healthcare teams, to facilitate training for healthcare teams and interconnectivity with academic departments and administration. This position will function as a key intermediary between hospital staff and departments to bring about the most positive hospital experience. This position will also oversee facilitation and management of staff training through the UCCI. This position operates in a matrix environment and must utilize creativity, excellent communication skills among diverse teams, problem solving and systems thinking to be a change agent.

Characteristic Duties

  • Provide structure and leadership for collaboration with department leaders and programs to develop clinical staff performance standards, assess staff skills and ensure achievement of established department and program goals and objectives
  • Identifies and implements systems and processes to improve efficiency and reduce expenses that do not compromise qualify of services/mission
  • Develop and implement staff training programs and engagement initiatives on behalf of the UC Cancer Institute
  • Manage and develop metrics and reporting mechanisms for success of training programs, engagement efforts and departmental collaborations
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams in coordinating the preparation and presentation of reports and data related to staff performance, delays in service, patient satisfaction and staff engagement
  • Develop policies and procedures as needed for related trainings
  • Responds to and investigates complaints and concerns and communicates identified issues to appropriate staff
  • Coaching, mentoring and supporting teams in assessment, analysis and maintenance of customer service standards
  • Facilitate strategic oversight to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives and strategies that align with regulatory agency standards and department/organization policies/procedures including, but not limited to: OSHA, HIPAA, JCO, Infection Control, etc.
  • Promote the mission, vision and goals of the UC Cancer Institute and UC Health while representing the university in a positive manner
  • Interacts with patients/families/customers and utilizes feedback to improve and reinforce satisfaction, maintain the highest level of confidentiality of information for patients, staff and organization
  • Utilize critical thinking skills in identifying, analyzing and resolving problems
  • Provide project management for affairs and related activities as assigned that build and maintain interdepartmental relationships


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with three (3) years' experience, -OR- Associate's degree with five (5) years' experience; -OR- seven (7) years' experience; degree and experience must be in a related field.

This position will be a professional position paid at an hourly rate.
