Institutional Research Analyst

The Office of Institutional Research is looking for a Research Analyst. Reporting an Assistant Director of Institutional Research, the Research Associate is responsible for:
  • Design, collection, reporting, analysis and presentation of institutional data and information. Reports may include tables, charts, dashboards, executive summaries, or others as needed.
  • Assist with various tasks associated with assessment studies, analysis and evaluation of academic and non-academic topics.
  • Survey research analysis, which includes survey design, administration and logistics, compilation of data results, presentation and visualization of results.
  • Responding to institutional surveys externally, such as IPEDS (U.S. Dept. of Education), Higher Learning Commission, U.S. News & World Report, among others.
  • Assist in peer institution analysis and benchmarking activities through querying state and national databases.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate must have the ability and working knowledge to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to demonstrate how the functions will be performed. The Institutional Research Office is in charge of producing official reports to various external agencies, and is also in charge of rolling out reports and dashboards to a broad set of colleges and offices on campus. As such, the Research Associate plays a significant role in making sure that data and information produced by the Office of Institutional Research is delivered accurately and efficiently internally and externally.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors' Degree required in social science, statistics, research methodology, higher education, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in managing large data sets, analyzing data using statistical techniques and software, and reporting data in meaningful format.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Demonstrated experience using statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, or other similar tools.
  • Academic and practical experience in survey development, implementation and reporting.


Preferred:
  • Masters' Degree with course emphasis in research design, statistics, or data management.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Proficiency with Business Intelligence programming languages, like Tableau, SQL, MS Access, or other similar reporting tools.
  • Experience collecting data from Peoplesoft and/or SAP systems.
  • Experience with online survey software such as Qualtrics.


Other Expected Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong ability to understand, analyze, and communicate statistical information to various audiences.
  • Strong knowledge base of research methods (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Effective and knowledgeable organizational, planning, and time management skills, and manage workflow that includes multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience working successfully within a team environment.
