HR Training Specialist

Are you passionate about employee learning and development? Do you have a keen eye and talent in instructional design and eLearning, but crave variety and enjoy facilitating system and software training as well? Would you like to be part of a team that's collaborative and is focused on the development of the staff within the university?

The Learning & Leadership Development team, part of the University of Cincinnati Human Resources department, is looking for a full-time, HR Training Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Leadership Development, this position is responsible for both facilitating system and software training as well as designing and developing eLearnings, screencasts, micro-learnings, and other technology-based trainings to the staff of the university. This role will support the university's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all other activities.

The HR Training Specialist must have a solid understanding of adult learning principles and have demonstrable experience applying those principles to instructional design (both eLearning and classroom design) and classroom facilitation. Candidates should also be familiar with the ADDIE model of training development.

This HR Training Specialist is responsible to:
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify the target audience's training needs
  • Design, develop, and edit classroom, eLearning, virtual, and blended curriculum, programs, and learning aids
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer of information back on the job
  • Coordinate and facilitate group training and development programs
  • Assist with coordination and promotion of training programs and activities
  • Provide administrative support for vendor deployed programs
  • Prepare related reports and documentation and perform related duties based on departmental need


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with one (1) year experience; OR Associate's degree with three (3) years' experience; or five (5) years' experience.
    • Experience must be in employee development.
  • One (1) year of experience with Microsoft ® software applications


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions software (UC's Catalyst/CaRT systems), SAP HRIS and Financial software (UC's UCFlex systems), SAP SuccessFactors suite of products, and/or SAP Concur Travel & Expense preferred.
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline, GoAnimate, Adobe Creative Cloud, or certification in facilitating vendor-purchased classes (i.e. DDI, Blanchard, Wiley, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven working experience in instructional design and adult learning.
    • Candidates will be asked to provide examples of their eLearning and facilitation skills.
