The Business Office in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for the open position of Financial Administrator 2. This position works with other staff members in the College Business Office to perform a variety of financial and human resource transactions in support of the business and HR operations for all of the departments and units within the college.

Characteristic Duties

The Financial Administrator 2 is responsible for achieving results by:
  • Having a strong service orientation and a "can do" attitude when it comes to assisting others
  • Demonstrating initiative and a desire to learn and do more
  • Processing routine financial requests from college departments and business units
  • Monitoring, reviewing and reconciling a variety of college-wide funds
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial expenditures to prevent deficit fund balances in accounts
  • Oversight of the annual Budget Formulation process and preparation of the All Funds Budgeting (AFB) process for assigned departments
  • Act as an independent reviewer by performing transaction audits of the Concur purchasing and expense reimbursement system
  • Processing routine HR requests from college departments and business units.
  • Managing the hiring process within the college for positions including student workers, work-study students and graduate students
  • Assisting in the hiring process for other faculty and staff positions.
  • Performing duties related to the Timekeeper role in the UC-Flex timekeeping system for administrative units and assigned departments
  • Preparing and submitting various forms related to position maintenance and personnel changes
  • Preparing and providing college-level review and approval for electronic personnel change requests (PCR's) that are submitted
  • Performing purchasing functions in a back-up capacity for Administrative Units including reviewing, ordering and stocking
  • Reviewing and approving requests for EXC and EXN payments to faculty by validating that the required documentation has been submitted to support the request for payment
  • Analyzing and tracking various commitment items to/from the college and to/from other department or units
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and policies related to human resources and financial transactions
  • Maintaining college financial and personnel records in compliance with university recordkeeping policies
  • Serving as a College Business Office subject matter expert on an assigned group of processes, procedures and functions unique to the college
  • Serving as a resource to department-level business staff to answer questions and resolve problems
  • Performing other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with two (2) years' experience; - OR- Associate's degree and four (4) years' experience; -OR- six (6) years' experience; degree must be in accounting or related field with related accounting experience. Incumbent must possess the business/fiscal experience to be fully proficient in performing all work assignments.

Requires intermediate knowledge of accounting area, including standard accounting principles, terminology, theories and practices. Duties are of moderate to high complexity and require wide ranging collaborative and proactive efforts along with the flexibility to work and adapt to changing financial systems while coordinating and interpreting fiscal data. Additional skills include the ability to identify and develop practical solutions while evaluating and resolving routine and non-routine issues. Experience and/or training include intermediate to advanced level experience working in one or more fiscal area(s).

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in human resources, accounting, reconciliation and purchasing is preferred. Additional consideration will be given for previous college or university experience. Familiarity with UC-Flex HR and FI functions is also a plus. Previous experience with UC systems, policies and procedures is highly desirable. Strong preference for someone who can succeed as part of a team, and make our team better.
