Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement, the Director is responsible for strategically leading initiatives on recruitment, retention, engagement, career development, and leadership development of women in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS). Efforts include initiating, developing, managing, evaluating, and promoting comprehensive activities for prospective students, current students, faculty, and staff, and alumnae development.

In collaboration and consultation with the Dean of Engineering and Applied Science and the Departments of Engineering:
  • Develop, plan, manage, and evaluate programs to recruit women into undergraduate and graduate programs, working in close cooperation with the CEAS Undergraduate Enrollment Office and individual departments.
  • Develop, plan, manage, and evaluate programs that help female students successfully complete their academic programs and facilitate their entry into careers in academia and industry.
  • Collaborate with the office of Experiential Learning to track and assist with co-op placement and evaluation.
  • Create partnerships within CEAS and support initiatives for women faculty and staff of CEAS.
  • Enable and guide staff and volunteers and oversee program space.
  • Serve on university-wide committees as an advocate for programs and policies that will affect women in CEAS.
  • Utilize up-to-date information and research to inform recruitment and enrollment of women in engineering programs.
  • Represent college at specific recruitment events both on- and off- campus.

In cooperation and consultation with development and business office staff:
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors, volunteers, and corporate and foundation prospects etc. that are focused on the success of women in CEAS.
  • Work on increasing alumnae development and participation on Advisory Boards and other initiatives.
  • Assist in the procurement of federal, foundation, and corporate funds and write stewardship reports.
  • Maintain a highly visible national profile to publicize the accomplishments of the WiE program and related efforts.
  • Maintain ties and be liaison to the Society of Women Engineers and other organizations focused on promoting women's careers and leadership development in engineering and related fields.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of experience; -OR- Associate's degree with five (5) years of experience; -OR- seven (7) years of experience. Experience must be in program development or business administration. Experience must include at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; experience with co-op programs; excellent communication and mentoring skills. Experience with programs focused on women and/or minority development is preferred.
