The College of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery, is looking for a Clinical Research Manager. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
Essential Function: With limited supervision, actively participate, plan, and evaluate multiple, complex and/or multi-faceted research programs for one or more designated departments, programs, or central units. Manage, lead, and mentor lower level CR staff. Ability to serve as principle investigator on select research projects. Duties can span a broad range of activities, or be primarily focused within one or more areas of the clinical research spectrum.
C ha r a c teristic Duties
Study Coordination:
- Assist in planning, writing and implementing the clinical study's goals and objectives
- Independently manage all aspects of research program and clinical studies including education/teaching
- In conjunction with PI or Director, interpret and apply current research findings in area of clinical specialty
- In conjunction with PI and Director, report findings in professional journals and local, state, and national conferences
- Act as a liaison with medical staff, University Departments, ancillary departments and/or satellite facilities
- Act as a consultant within area of clinical expertise
- Independently prepare and submit multiple levels of research documentation (i.e. IRB submissions, educational materials, reports, grant renewal reports, and study forms)
Administration:
- Act as a resource for faculty and staff regarding contracts/budgets for industry and sponsored research.
- Serve as an informational and referral resource for the research community.
- Maintain currency in field through cross training, continuing education, literature and seminars and implement this knowledge into the department.
- Work with necessary parties to identify compliance, legal, IP and business/financial risk.
- Mitigate risk through working with physicians/faculty, divisions, legal and/or other departments
- Demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate and communicate with others.Utilize skills to contribute to UC/UCPC strategic planning.
- Work on budgets and contracts
Regulatory:
- Independently prepare and submit multiple levels of research documentation (i.e. IRB submissions, educational materials, reports, grant renewal reports, and study forms)
- Maintain clinicaltrial.gov records
- Active on appropriate committees
- Plans, develops and presents training
- Active in relevant regional and national forum
Data Entry/Management:
- Develop and execute data management plans
- Database design
- Database creation, testing, and advanced maintenance
- Assist with creation of case report forms
- Assist with development of analysis plans
- Conduct basic analysis and interpret findings
- Edit abstracts and manuscripts
Personnel/Office management:
- Provide direct supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e. hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, approve time off, etc.)
Related other duties, as assigned
M i n im u m Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in related discipline or equivalent education/experience; 5-10 years of directly relevant experience, preferably in an academic or clinical setting; Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification : Appropriate certification strongly preferred
