CCM Master Electrician

THEATRE DESIGN & PRODUCTION

Responsibilities
  • Will supervise lighting and video technology applications and installations for main stage season and occasional studio productions. Eight show Main Stage season includes; Opera, Musical Theatre, Drama and Dance, with an additional Studio Series of varying scale. Production calendar requires non-traditional office hours.
  • Supervise and manage graduate student staff, work-study and mentor students in production electrics roles. Able to orient people to operational procedures. Must maintain satisfactory working relationship with staff and students. Must be able to mentor and guide BFA students focused on their lighting technology degree track. Student laboratory grading required.
  • Under the direct supervision of CCM Sr. Director of Performance operations and the CCM Resident Lighting Designer, manage and supervise lighting operations of all CCM performance spaces in the areas of electrical equipment maintenance, equipment and show budgets, crew safety supervision, inventory control, maintenance and long and short term facility planning.
  • Consult on new and replacement equipment purchases. Consult with CCM performance production management of non-academic presentations, oversee academic lighting load-ins and strikes of all theatres, supervise and build special electrical equipment and effects. Advise students in areas of safety. Conduct electrical and installation workshops and mini-classes .
  • Opportunity available for additional salary compensation as adjunct instructor to teach BFA required Stage Lighting Electrics I and II classes. Adjunct salary based on teaching experience. Preference given to candidates with ETCP Electrical Certification or candidates willing to work towards certification within 36 months.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with one (1) year experience; OR Associate's degree with three (3) years' experience; OR five (5) years' experience. Degree must be in Fine Arts, Theatre or related field. Experience must be in theatrical productions or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BFA in Theatre Design or Technology or three to five years professional experience
  • Thorough knowledge, three-five years of stage lighting equipment repair, robotics, and knowledge of computer lighting control systems: ETC Paradigm, ETC networking
  • Moving light fixture repair knowledge and knowledge of dimmer trouble shooting and theatre special effects
  • Capable of instruction of basic electrical principles, light plot installations, and video technology skills
  • Video projection technology background
  • Strong background in low voltage special effects and strong organizational skills
  • Strong Vector Works and Light-Wright skills
  • AutoCAD skills preferred
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle


Physical Requirements

Must be able to work at heights (up to 75'). Must be able to climb and work on straight and A-frame ladders. Must be able to carry 70 Lbs. Must be able to distinguish colors. CPR/First Aid Certification required within 6 months of hire.
