Business Data Reporting Analyst


The Office of the Bursar at the University of Cincinnati has an opening for a Business Data Reporting Analyst. The position will report to the Bursar and is expected to collaborate and coordinate with a number of key staff including senior managers and the Bursar's current Business Systems Analyst. The primary focus of this position is internal Bursar support, however, some situations and issues may necessitate the need to collaborate with a variety of staff in academic and non-academic units including Colleges, Budget, Business Core Systems, UCit, etc.

The Bursar's Office strongly encourages staff to actively participate in local, regional, and national Higher Education User Groups (HEUG), including attending the Alliance Conference each year. The successful candidate should be proficient in SQL tools for reporting and analysis, data integrity, and configuration validation. Core responsibilities include creating QA queries to provide opportunities for streamlining and error resolution before issues are identified by our constituents, especially students and academic departments.

Job Characteristics/Responsibilities:
  • Work with department managers to create queries and reports to insure data integrity, internal and external reporting, and process improvement.


  • Manage the Tuition Calculation process including configuration, set up, new term and year rollover, as well as, review and troubleshoot criteria and equation needs.


  • Use software tools like Microsoft BI Publisher, Microsoft Access, and SQL to achieve goals and end results.


  • Monitor and report on third-party processes and interfaces are secure, efficient, and reliable. Research and recommend process improvements.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or other related field with 1 year of business and/or ERP related experience -OR- Associate's degree in a related field with 3 years of business and/or ERP related experience -OR- 5 years of business and/or ERP related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of systems and database administration and must work well within a team environment.


Ideal Qualifications:

Higher education experience with a major ERP product, preferably PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Student Financials module. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with tact and diplomacy. Needs to be self-motivated, highly engaged and intellectually curious. Attention to detail a must.
