Asst. Director Animal Regulatory Compliance

The IACUC department in the Office of Research is filling an Assistant Director Animal Regulatory Compliance position. This position will work with a variety of people, from PI's, Lab Animal Staff,to regulatory/accrediting agency officials to ensure guidelines for animal care are followed. The Assistant Director will need to bean outstanding communicator, educator, a problem solver and possess strong organizational and observational skills.

JOB DUTIES
  • Schedule, register and present semi-monthly mandatory IACUC training for institutional research community.
  • Create/revise/manage content for live and web based IACUC training resources.
  • Coordination with LAMS for mandated completion of all researcher training requirements for protocol addition.
  • Management of specific database responsibilities for training/inspection/compliance activities.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and generate Semi-Annual Inspection and Program Evaluation reports for IACUC and IO.
  • Generate annual reports for USDA - OLAW - AAALAC in observance of submission deadlines.
  • Investigate/interact/retrain PI and lab staff to manage reports of non-compliance in the research program.
  • Information resource for research community inquiries related to institutional policy and office services.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five (5) years' of related experience; -OR- Associate's degree and at least seven (7) years' of related experience; -OR- nine (9) years' of related experience; Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Experience must be in an IACUC or animal care environment. Experience may also require at least one (1) year supervision.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

Current certification as an IACUC administrator (CPIA).
