Academic Tutor-Writing & Study Skills Center @ UC Blue Ash

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College invites applications for an academic tutor of writing at 80% FTEin the Writing and Study Skills Center within the English & Communication Department. The Writing and Study Skills Center offers UCBA students support with writing, reading, study skills, and student success strategies. The tutor will help foster an environment of continuous improvement and excellence in undergraduate learning and teaching with a diverse population in an open access college.

Reporting to the WSSC Program Manager, the academic tutor supports student learning of writing in coursework of any discipline from a holistic, student-success oriented perspective. The tutor provides student support and instruction through individualized one-on-one or small group sessions delivered in person or online to improve academic performance and performs related duties based on departmental need.

Employee will work 1664 hours per year. Regular schedule will be 32-38 hours per week during fall and spring semesters and at least 28 hours per week during summer semester. Regular schedule may require evening hours and occasional weekend work at conferences, orientations, open houses, etc.

UC Blue Ash College is the largest regional college in Ohio, located in Blue Ash, Ohio, with an enrollment of approximately 5100 students.

Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in English or related field with at least one (1) year of teaching or tutoring experience.

Ideal Qualifications :Master's degree in English or related field. Experience with online tutoring and/or with digital learning platforms. Experience teaching or tutoring one or more of the following areas: English as a Second Language, reading, study skills, and/or student success strategies. Proficient computer skills. Willingness to be trained to tutor in relevant areas of support beyond writing.
