Multimedia Specialist and Social Media Manager

Job Summary:
The Multimedia Specialist/Social Media Manager is responsible for creating and distributing digital content in support of Ohio Northern University online. This position identifies storytelling opportunities in the form of student experiences, sponsored University events and alumni interactions, to name a few, and is able to deliver concise, compelling content that relates those stories to appropriate audiences through various digital platforms including social media, email marketing and ONU website.

Scope:
Supports all campus branding, communications and marketing efforts by providing video and motion graphics creation, handling event coverage, managing multimedia assets, developing social media content and analyzing digital data. The Multimedia Specialist and Social Media Manager will use a full range of equipment from mobile, drone and GoPro cameras to Canon DSLRs and Canon video cameras.

Principal Responsibilities
• Schedule, storyboard, script, manage and complete video and motion graphics assignments in a fast-paced environment
• Develop video content for the University's website and other media outlets
• Implement multimedia and social media strategies, maintain the digital voice for ONU , and create, modify and implement content calendar
• Conduct interviews with various University guests and personnel as part of covering events
• Maintains knowledge of trends in digital and emerging media and develops strategy for incorporating them into Ohio Northern's platforms
• Work within the University's brand guidelines and content management system to promote the University
• Provide limited backup and support for other photo and web functions
• Evening and weekend availability is required
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
• Extensive experience with online video and multimedia productions including pre-production, production, post-production (Adobe Premiere PRO , Adobe After Effects and Adobe Audition) and delivery for digital, social and web
• Working knowledge of a DSLR camera and professional video/audio equipment
• Experience with the principles of graphic design and interface design plus a high level of proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat
• Experience working with a social media content strategy and content calendar
• Working knowledge of social media analytics, platforms, tone and delivery including but not limited to: Hootsuite, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, SnapChat, LinkedIn, Vimeo, etc.
• Knowledge of communication and standards in a web-based information environment
• Familiarity working within a content management system
• Ability to effectively meet deadlines and work in a diverse academic environment, especially troubleshooting and assisting others with basic computer issues and using the Macintosh Operating system
• Working knowledge of various digital delivery methods
• Ability to work individually as well as contribute to a robust creative team
• Ability to work nights and weekends

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in a field related to journalism, graphic design, marketing, or public relations
• At least two years of experience with all aspects of multimedia including but not limited to production, project management, creative direction, and one year preferred experience with writing/editing
• Experience in both still and video work with DSLR cameras, expert level skills in photo and video editing software, experience with strobe and studio lighting
• Demonstrated success as a web interface designer in a complex web environment

Preferred Qualifications:
• Five or more years of similar work experience
• Experience in a higher education setting
