Research Foundation Support Position

Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree. Three years of full time experience working in a medical setting. In lieu of experience, a combination of higher education and experience totaling three years may be considered. Strong communication skills. Strong literacy, numeracy, and computer proficiency. Ability to analyze and collect data in an organized fashion. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Ability to communicate verbally and compose well-written professional documents. Familiarity with clinical research; budgeting, tracking expenses and payments.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of application process to the Committee on Research Involving Human Subjects and IRB requirements. Knowledge of Powerchart, IDX, UHIS, COEUS, and Clinical Conductor. Experience in coordinating multi-center clinical trials, regulatory and IRB paperwork and a demonstrated working knowledge of many procedures under a variety of work conditions, including strict deadlines and emergencies. Knowledge of neurological disorders relating to research protocols.

Brief Description of Duties: The Department of Neurology is expanding in clinical research. With an increase in participation with clinical research trials, there is a high demand for key support staff to be put in place. Support staff is needed to assist with the management and logistics of research projects in order to accomplish the goals of research trials. The selected candidate will:

  • Coordinate all clerical aspects of research activities for research patients.
  • Provide a timely and accurate communication link between patients, doctors, and other health care professionals.
  • Assist doctor and nursing staff with paperwork related to research activities.
  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, interpret IRB requests and answer routine, related questions.
  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, respond to industry sponsors.
  • Assist Principal Investigator with patient registration, appointments, and all supporting paperwork connected to the research visit.
  • Responsible for all grant submissions and renewals for Research Protocols for Principal Investigator.
  • Prepare budgets, set up payment tracking system, process invoices for payment.

Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Travel to the Neurology Outpatient office and to the Clinical Research Center will be required for this position.
