Professional Assistant I

Announcement is hereby made for a 12-month, Professional Assistant I position, starting in the Fall 2013 semester on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.

 

This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the College.

 

Job Description:

The Professional Assistant I (PA1) will provide technical computer lab support and assist in the creation, implementation and coordination of this office’s growing programs in health-related areas, which are high-growth, demand occupations. The Professional Assistant will report to the Associate Dean for Continuing Education. Primary responsibilities include:

 

· Maintaining computer classrooms on all three campuses, overseeing maintenance of hardware, software and networks and managing departmental websites;

· Assisting with the coordination of the two-semester pharmacy technician program;

· Assisting with the implementation and coordination of the nine-month ophthalmic technician program and its transition from grant funding to a fee-for-service program;

· Assisting with the creation, implementation and coordination of an online health IT program (six courses of study, 78 hours each) as it transitions to a fee-for-service program, and

· Assisting with the annual development of a Career and Technical Education healthcare-related grant proposal and the implementation and coordination of same, if funded.
