Job Summary
Prepare and set up all baked goods and desserts, including proper storage and cleaning and other duties as described below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned within classification.
1. Prepare all baked goods and desserts that appear on the menu for main dining halls, the Spa, and special events as required
2. Set up serving line with baked goods or desserts
3. Inform supervisor when staples are needed
4. Clean all equipment used in preparation on a daily basis, including stock pots and mixers
5. Assist in cleaning ovens
6. Serve desserts on line when needed
7. Ensure all foods are properly prepared, served and stored (labeled, covered, and dated in refrigerator or freezer in accordance with NYS Health Codes)
8. When given test recipes, follow recipes as given
9. Perform other duties regarding cleaning or food preparation as assigned by supervisor
10. Ability to write routine notes and supply requests.
11. Maintain a demonstrated interest in learning new ideas
12. Ability to speak and listen effectively and respectfully with supervisors, customers, and employees of the College
13. Maintain an appropriate image and dress
14. Establish and maintain a high level of customer service

Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as well as having a demonstrated knowledge of baking terminology, weights and measures and the demonstrated ability to expand recipe quantities. Other requirements listed below are also representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum two years work-related experience or training; or equivalent combination.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract and multiply in culinary weights and measurements.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to utilize or learn basic computer functions.
