VICE PRESIDENT FOR ADVANCEMENT

The Vice President for Advancement (VPA) is a direct report to the President and an integral member of senior management.  The VPA leads and coordinates a team of professionals who are collectively responsible for documenting, promoting and advancing the vision, mission and goals of Dutchess Community College. 

 

As a member of the Executive Team, the VPA will assist in the implementation of the collective vision for the College, transform the advancement area and position the institution for the future.

 

The Vice President, as chief development officer, will establish objectives and formulate strategies in the areas of public relations, communications, community relations, marketing, institutional data and research, fundraising, grants development, and enrollment.  The Vice President will have supervisory responsibilities over the following offices: Institutional Research, Public Relations and Communications, the DCC Foundation, and Grants. 

 

Major responsibilities:

 

  • Create and support the strategic intersection between communications, fundraising, and institutional data. 

 

  • Lead the communications team that develops, implements and oversees College-wide marketing plans to achieve institutional goals.

 

  • Oversee all aspects of the College’s marketing efforts including developing innovative strategies to increase enrollment including an active digital, print, radio/TV and press presence, as well as integrated marketing and communication materials; designing and managing effective branding, marketing, and advertising campaigns; and designing strategies that enhance the College’s image in the community

 

  • Collaborate with the Admissions Office to ensure a strong recruitment and retention campaign that conveys a consistent message and effective use of the college brand.

 

  • Guide the collection, analysis, and dissemination of institutional data to internal and external stakeholders. 

 

  • Identify and secure local, regional, national, and international opportunities to promote Dutchess Community College, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and Trustees. 

 

  • Lead all development and fundraising activities including implementation of a capital campaign with emphasis on cultivation and solicitation of major corporate and private gift prospects.

 

  • Oversee and support the DCC Foundation Executive Director, along with the DCC Foundation Board of Directors, with annual fundraising, capital fundraising, corporate and foundation relations, and planned giving. 

 

  • Provide leadership in developing a campus-wide culture and climate of philanthropy and work with alumni and the campus community to address the College's funding needs and opportunities.

 

  • Work closely with the President, the Dutchess Community College Foundation staff and Board, Vice Presidents, Deans, faculty, staff and alumni to develop compelling funding requests and secure financial support for the College's mission and strategic priorities.

 

  • Serve as the chief liaison to SUNY Central Office on all institutional advancement, development / fundraising strategies and efforts.

 

Qualifications

 

A minimum of a master's degree in development, marketing or a related field and a minimum of ten years related experience in marketing, fundraising and institutional advancement with at least five years of transformative accomplishments in either or both the corporate or higher education sector.
