Brief Summary:

The Marist Upward Bound Program was founded in 1966. It is a federally funded college preparatory program designed to generate in participants the skills and motivation necessary to persist in completing their secondary education and enter and complete a program of postsecondary education. Marist College Upward Bound currently serves over 100 youths from two senior high schools located in Dutchess and Orange counties. http://www.marist.edu/academics/upwardbound/index.html The Marist Upward Bound Program is seeking applicants for residential and non-residential positions for the summer program, which runs from June 25 through August 4, 2017, generally Sunday-Thursday. All of the following positions are contingent upon funding. Employment for residential positions is from June 19-August 4 this includes training and post program activities. Instructors and counselors must attend an afterschool orientation on Wednesday, June 22 and post-program activities. Hours and salary for positions depend on shift (mornings, afternoons, or evenings) and part-time or full-time status.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The tutor/counselor must have good academic skills and tutoring ability/experience in math, science, social studies, and/or English.

Qualifications:

Must have experience working with youth, and the ability to supervise or conduct recreational and athletic events. Applicants should be enrolled in college and have completed at least one year of college. Education, psychology, or social work majors with a cumulative average of 2.5+ are preferred. Full-time positions must live on campus while students are in residence, June 25 through August 2, Sunday-Thursday.
