Principal Faculty, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

Position Title: Principal Faculty

School: Doctor of Physical Therapy Program/School of Science

Job Summary: The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Marist College is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as a member of the principal faculty. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative environment focused on establishing the region's premier DPT Program.

This full-time 12-month position requires experience in curriculum development, instruction, research/scholarship, and assessment. Priority will be given a generalist PT with expertise in acute care, women's health, cardiovascular /pulmonary, or geriatrics, although other areas of practice will be considered. Teaching responsibilities will depend on areas of clinical and academic expertise.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a higher education setting and effective communication and collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment. In addition, the following are requirements for the position:
  • Must hold a PT license in the US and be eligible for licensure in New York State
  • Possess an earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD or DSc) from an accredited institution in a field related to physical therapy; will consider a DPT with ABPTS certification (i.e. OCS, SCS), and clinical experience related to the area of expertise.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in clinical or academic setting
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience

Essential Functions:
  • Teaching didactic courses related to areas of expertise in the DPT Program
  • Coordinating course development with other faculty
  • Engaging in ongoing scholarly work
  • Providing academic advising and mentoring with doctoral projects
  • Providing service to the Program and College

About the Program: The faculty will work with the nine existing DPT faculty in a new dedicated state-of-the-art facility that includes faculty and support offices, conference rooms, high-tech classrooms, research facilities, on-site suite of clinical simulation labs, and a gross anatomy facility.
