Position Summary and Responsibilities Vassar College seeks a Director of Institutional Research for our Office of Institutional Research. Reporting to the President, the Director provides leadership in the development of a comprehensive institutional research and assessment program to support the College's mission and strategic goals. The Director partners with numerous academic and administrative units to help grow and sustain a culture of rigorous program evaluation and evidence-based decision-making to support curricular and program development, and provides data to support decision making by the President, senior administrative leadership, and Board of Trustees. The Director is responsible for preparing and overseeing a variety of required federal and state reports such as being the institutional Keyholder for Vassar's annual submissions to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). The Director serves as liaison with our regional accrediting agency. The Office of Institutional Research also supports the administration, analysis, and reporting of a broad suite of surveys (e.g., CIRP Freshman, HERI Faculty or FSSE, NSSE, COFHE Senior Survey, and COFHE Alumni Survey).

Qualifications
At least a master's degree in an applied quantitative discipline such as applied statistics, economics, epidemiology, quantitative sociology, applied mathematics, computer science, or other field with an emphasis on quantitative research methods and statistics. Three to five years of working experience including use of a range of data management software, data analysis methods, and research methods. Experience in institutional research within higher education is not required but highly desirable. A thorough knowledge of general research methodology, including qualitative and quantitative techniques, survey design, and expert skills with data management and query tools. Expertise with descriptive and analytical data analysis using Excel, Access, SPSS, SAS, R, Stata, or other data analysis programs. Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite Programs, survey data collection and analysis software, and data presentation tools. Excellent project management and communication skills. Skills with Tableau, Banner, and/or Workday are preferred. Careful attention to detail and accuracy, creativity, and a high skill level in proactive problem solving. The ability to develop good working relationships with executive, academic, and administrative leaders and their direct reports Ability to work independently and with others, plan and organize multiple projects simultaneously, and set and meet deadlines.
