Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesThe Department of Film at Vassar College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of film/video production beginning Fall 2018.

The Film Department is seeking a filmmaker and educator who can lead students through all aspects of film/video production, from concept development to final output. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory, intermediate, and upper level courses across various modes of production, including but not limited to documentary, narrative, and video art. Candidates should be proficient with digital workflows and experience with 16mm film production is also welcome. Evidence of successful college-level teaching is required. An MFA or equivalent in film / video production or related field is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of artistic achievement in film/video, including professional credits and screenings at festivals, cinemas, or other relevant venues.

Qualifications
Vassar faculty are committed teacher/scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, and studios, and in individually mentored projects. They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on college- wide and departmental committees.
